Mug shot!

The sun is finally shining in Norfolk! Hurrah! As soon as those menacing clouds went away, I rushed out into the garden to take a few outfit snaps of pieces which I hope to be wearing more often, and packing in my suitcase next month! I am supposed to be on a spending ban as I am STILL awaiting to start a job, and I have so much to save for in the next few months! But alas, some things just jump into your hands when you're perusing the rails of New Look and BAM, there goes another £30! I do have a teeny excuse though, and that's the fact that my student card runs out in 3 DAYS so it would be rude not to make the most it, right? I'm loving the stripey shorts my mumma treated me to, as I never seem to find shorts that look nice on, so I was dead chuffed with these bad boys! Although you can't see the sandals i'm wearing very well (I have an instagram photo which shows them off), they  were my ultimate ebay bargain at just £9.99! Considering i've been looking at Topshop ones which cost around £30 and don't look any better, I think I've done pretty well there. I hope you are not offended by my mug shot at the very end there... it had to be done!

Lately, I've been mourning the end of another Made in Chelsea series (I am a sad fangirl, it's a bit of a problem). I've also been trying to keep fit with the Blogilates beginner's workout calender. It's soooo hard, but definitely worth it! For anyone wanting quick results without joining an expensive gym, you should definitely check out the Blogilates page here, for exercise videos with the most upbeat trainer EVER, recipe ideas and all-round support. With this, my ballet lessons, eating better and drinking loooads of water, I feel pretty damn good!

I have sooo much to look forward to at the moment, including results day (SO SCARED), Graduation, starting a job, interviews and a girls holiday! Let's hope there's lots of happy stuff to blog about! :)

Like music to my ears.

So I thought I'd try a different blog post today, which involves me sharing some of the songs that have been played on repeat on my spotify or itunes just lately. There's nothing better than finding a song which perfectly sets you up for the day. My pet hate, is to switch on the radio in my car and discover that for the entire journey, not one decent song has been played! This is a real mood-destroyer for me, and that is why I end up making my own cds for long journeys, and have a gazillion playlists on my Spotify account to suit every occasion (yes, there's definitely some true 90s cheese on there!) When it comes to my favourite genre, I'm definitely an indie Cindy and not afraid to admit it! My all time favourite band has to be The Strokes, and I literally died and went to heaven when I saw them at Leeds Festival two years ago!

Here's my top 10 tunes of the moment:

1) Crystal Fighters- L.A Calling
2) The Naked And Famous- Punching in a Dream
3) Everything Everything- Don't Try
4) The Joy Formidable- Whirring
5) Funeral Party- Where Did It Go Wrong
6) Tame Impala- Apocalypse Dreams
7) Tom Odell- Another Love
8) Mazes- Summer Hits (J+J Don't Like)
9) Robin Thicke, T.I, Pharell- Blurred Lines (I can't stop dancing to this one!!)
10) Bruno Mars- Treasure (A guilty pleasure, but this is a harmless summer tune to sing along to!)

So there we have it! My top 10 songs at the moment! I'm thinking about doing one of these posts on a monthly basis so I can add a few new ones in there. :)

Do you love any of these songs? Do you have any recommendations for me?

Lots of love, Lissy xox

There's a beautiful storm in your eyes.

Pretending it's hot outside // Early father's day meal face // new purchases

Current read // Nom! // Drinks and food with friends

Ballet shoes // The cycle race that put our little town on the map // Meow

New phone case // Wine o'clock with friends // River Island dress & family BBQ ootd

This is a little sneak peek into some of  the things that have been going on lately. I am late to the party (as usual) with the instagram  thing, but now I have it, I have been going a bit crazy and taking pics of anything and everything I see (my friends can vouch for that one!)
If you'd like to, you can follow me on instagram here!
At the moment I'm waiting to start a new summer job so I can save my pennies for my two fabulous and very exciting holidays this year to the South of France and New York!! Moving home from uni has been about catching up with friends and family with a glass of wine or two recently, but missing the babes (and boyfriend) I have left behind!

The next few weeks will involve the big move out from my flat in Leicester (I WILL cry), seeing the boyfriend who I haven't seen in a fair few weeks (make that 4!), seeing friends, and starting my job!

Hope you're all having a lovely jubbly Sunday!

Colours run prime, paint a picture so bright.

Jumper: Pull and Bear
Dress: Topshop (from ebay)
Tights: Primark
Shoes: Primark
Pasty, make-up free mug: my own

I thought I'd begin getting into outfit posts by showing you the sort of thing I wear for a lazy day, and days when the weather just can't make its mind up. These sort of days seem to be happening quite a lot just lately, and I know that if I brave the outdoors without some kind of knit, or my trusty 40 deniers, then I will probably end up one miserable and cold Melissa! Excuse my make-up free face please and thank you; all I have done today is drive my dad to the airport as he returns to Edinburgh and the land of kilts, drink tea and catch up on some NVQ work which should make me a qualified teaching assistant by September! These photos aren't the best of quality, as I still need to get used to my new Nikon Coolpix camera and all its fancy features.

Hope you're having a good start to your week!

Recent purchases...

Here's a few things I have managed to get my mitts on recently! My spending has had to be seriously reduced , as i'm waiting to start a new sales assistant job which I won't get paid for until July!! *sob*

When my lovely uni friends came to visit me last weekend, we had a little spree in Primark as it's cheap and cheerful! I got these polka dot shorts for £4!!! They'll be great for my holiday in the south of France next month, and when England decides to behave and give us consistent sunny weather! The sunglasses were only £1!!! They certainly won't be replacing my Ray Bans just yet, but they're ideal for just wearing in the garden or at the beach when you don't mind about them getting scratched. The canvas bag was a bit of a spontaneous purchase, but when we got to the till point, these bags were within reaching distance, and I just couldn't refuse a cat/Audrey Hepburn combination! At just £3, this bag will be great for beach trips on holiday.

I've been on the look out for an orange nail polish, as I pretty much have every colour under the sun apart from orange, and it's such an on-trend colour at the moment. This is the Barry M Gelly nail paint in the colour  Satsuma, and i've found that just one coat of this stuff looks great and lasts about a week chip-free!

Lastly, I GOT MY HANDS ON THE ORIGINS FACE MASK!! This is a guilty purchase, and I caved! The Boots store in Norwich has just opened a new Origins counter, and my eyes just lit up when I saw this little gem just sitting there. At £20, it's something I had to be confident would do the trick, but after seeing it on numerous blogs, I couldn't refuse! This stuff is the BOMB, and I'm tempted to do a proper review of it, so watch this space...

P.S I got a new phone with instagram!! Wahoo!

Laters chickerinos!

A weekend in pictures...

This weekend, I was lucky enough to have two of my favourite uni friends in Norfolk! I've been pretty bogged-down with job hunting and the stress of moving back home after spending 3 years in a different city that a little girly time, Pimms and plenty of laughs was just what the doctor ordered! These two girls are absolute BABES, and it's so refreshing to find friends who want to make the effort and visit each other now we know we're not just a corridor away. The weekend kicked off with a drunken night in Norwich in which I showed Alice and Kerrie some of my favourite bars including The Bicycle Shop and The Birdcage (Anyone who might take a trip to Norwich in the future HAS to visit these two adorable places!) Saturday began with an unavoidable hangover, followed by a visit to Holkham Hall and a picnic in the freezing cold!! And on Sunday we were able to see Norwich during the day, and some of the great shops (and restaurants) the city has to offer (Haul post coming soon). I had such a blast that when it was time to say goodbye at the train station, I cried like an absolute baby!! It just goes to show how much I will miss my uni friends, but how important it is to keep in touch and see each other as much as possible. And at the end of July, these two will have my presence yet again for FRANCE 2K13!! Bring it on!
